Redistricting

For too long, California state lawmakers have chosen their voters, rather than voters choosing their legislators.  This inherent conflict of interest has contributed to the partisan gridlock that has crippled Sacramento and prevented lawmakers from effectively addressing the most pressing issues facing business. The L.A. Area Chamber supports an open and transparent redistricting process that takes the power to redraw district lines out of the hands of lawmakers and places it in the hands of voters.

GOALS

•    Implement comprehensive redistricting reform in California
•    Increase accountability among lawmakers in addressing the issues critical to business
•    Create more competitive state legislative elections

RESULTS

•   L.A. Area Chamber-authored Proposition 11 – Voters FIRST Act – was passed in the November 11, 2008
General Election, ushering in historic redistricting reform in California
