Land Use, Construction & Housing

The Land Use, Construction & Housing Council advocates for policies and programs that create sustainable, economically robust communities through smart growth planning, public-private partnerships and investment in congestion relief solutions. This also includes a special focus on building more workforce housing, reforming the city’s planning and permitting process, strengthening our public transportation system and addressing L.A. County’s homelessness crisis.

Is your building prepared for "The Big One?"

Wednesday, July 23
10 - 11:30 a.m.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is partnering with Dr. Lucy Jones to explore the seismic resilience of buildings across L.A. Despite the tragic lessons learned from the Northridge earthquake a decade ago, thousands of buildings from the valley to downtown and all the way to the coast are seismically vulnerable. Dr. Jones is seeking input from property owners, businesses and building owners like you to determine the appropriate strategies for a safer city.

In addition, Lisa Trifiletti, director of environmental and land use planning for Los Angeles World Airports, is seeking the Chamber's support on the Los Angeles International Airport North Side Plan development. This is an opportunity to transform about 340 acres of land just north of the airport to revitalize and support local businesses, create more jobs, meet the needs of the airport and address the demand for open space.
