Mental Health and Caring for the Homeless
Wednesday, Oct. 22 **Please note special date**
10 - 11:30 a.m.
On any given night, more than 40,000 people are homeless in Los Angeles County. Without adequate housing, nutrition, comprehensive health care, etc., most of this population depends on hospitals and community clinics to address their immediate medical needs. As a result, longer-term chronic health conditions, substance addiction and mental illness issues fall to the wayside.
Join us for a discussion with Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and the Hospital Association of Southern California about local and county-wide efforts to provide comprehensive care to L.A.'s homeless population through coordinated care/coordinated entry programs, and the recent expansion of mental health services with the County's implementation of Laura's Law.
