MOVE THE NORTH RUNWAY
On Monday, the coalition to Fix LAX NOW released a comprehensive citywide poll on what L.A. voters think about the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and moving the north runway. The poll, conducted in December, shows voters solidly in favor of moving the north runway. More than 3,000 likely Los Angeles municipal election voters were polled representing about 200 people in each City Council district and 300 voters in Council District 11, home to LAX. L.A. City officials at Chamber next week
 The Chamber will be hosting three L.A. City officials at separate meetings throughout next week. L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be speaking about immigration reform at the Government & Fiscal Relations Council on Thursday, Jan. 17. L.A. City Councilmember Jose Huizar will be attending the Energy, Water & Environmental Sustainability Council on Friday, Jan. 18. L.A. Chief Administrative Officer Miguel Santana will speak about the new model for economic development at a special briefing on Tuesday, Jan. 15. We encourage you to attend these important meetings. Rubalcava family receives Chamber's 2012 Chair's Award
 Congratulations to the Rubalcava family for receiving the 2012 Chair's Award, which was presented at the Board of Director's meeting today at the Chamber. 2012 Chamber Board Chair Karen Hathaway, LAACO, LTD./Los Angeles Athletic Club, recognized Board Member Dominick Rubalcava, Law Offices of Dominick W. Rubalcava, for his role as fundraising chair of the L.A. Jobs PAC; Sharon Rubalcava, Alston & Bird LLP, for her participation as co-chair of the CEQA taskforce; and Alex Rubalcava, Rubalcava Capital Management, for his leadership in former Mayor Richard Riordan's pension initiative.
Chamber member hosts benefit for Home for Good
 Sydney Weisman, Weisman Hamlin Public Relations, is hosting a cabaret performance with The Wayne Peet Trio on Saturday, Feb. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the Westwood Presbyterian Church. All proceeds will benefit Home for Good, an initiative of the Chamber and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Register now.
