Chamber testifies before commission on billboard regulation
The Chamber provided testimony before the L.A. City Planning Commission Thursday on the negative implications excessive billboard regulation will have on small businesses, and challenged the Planning Department’s conclusion that signage discourages business and decreases the overall vitality of an area. Chamber committee focuses on international economy
The economic outlook for 2009 and 2010 is grim, yet the tough times can result in positive actions, said Jerry Nickelsburg, economist, UCLA Anderson Forecast, at the Chamber's Global Initaitives Committee meeting Tuesday. "As activity slows at our ports, there can instead be a focus on the development of the ports," Nickelsburg said. Indicating the strong trade relationships the United States has with other countries, Nickelsburg pointed out that the economic state of some international partners including China and South Korea will depend on U.S. growth.
