HOME FOR GOOD ANNOUNCES $105 MILLION IN FUNDING
The Home For Good Funders Collaborative announced today more than $105 million in resources from public and private systems to help end chronic homelessness. The funding will provide permanent supportive housing to more than 1,000 chronically homeless individuals throughout the L.A. region. The resources include housing vouchers, capital funds and health, mental health and substance abuse services. "This is the Home For Good blueprint come to life," said Jerry Neuman, co-chair of the Home For Good Task Force. Studies find that placing chronically homeless people in permanent supportive housing creates a cost savings of more than 40 percent per person. Chamber leads business delegation on pension reform
On Wednesday, the Chamber and civic leaders, including former Mayor Richard Riordan, told the City’s Executive Employee Relations Committee that now is the time for pension reform in the City of Los Angeles. "Our message today is not about blame, it is about all of us working together to find a solution to a pension system that if unchanged will spell disaster for the City of Los Angeles," said Riordan. "The time to act is now. If not now, when? If not us, who?" Chamber opposes Interim Control Ordinance for Chinatown
On Tuesday, the L.A. City Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee considered a draft Interim Control Ordinance (ICO) which would temporarily prohibit the establishment of new formula retail stores that are 20,000 square feet or larger in Chinatown. Chamber supports NBCUniversal Evolution project
On Tuesday, the Chamber testified at an Area Planning Commission meeting in favor of the NBCUniversal Evolution project, which will include upgrades and improvements to studio production and post-production facilities, new media-related office space, and enhancements to the Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park and Citywalk. The project represents a $1.6 billion investment in Los Angeles and creates more than 30,000 jobs during construction and operations. LEDtronics, Inc. supplies L.A. City Hall park with LED lighting The park surrounding Los Angeles City Hall recently reopened after eight months of repair work following the occupation of the area by demonstrators for nearly two months. LEDtronics, Inc. supplied the 27-watt LED lamps located around the tree-lined pathways and stairs of the 1.7-acre park.
