Congressman Adam Schiff joins Chamber for discussion on national security and economy

Congressman Adam Schiff spoke to a packed house at the Chamber during the Accenture Pancakes and Politics Breakfast Speaker Series Wednesday. Congressman 
Schiff discussed current national security policy, Russia, North Korea and his involvement with the new administration as the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. "We cannot have strong national security without a strong national economy," said Schiff. "A strong economy is the basis for our standard of living, and we must pass a strong economy on to the next generation. SEE THE PHOTOS.

 
PLUM presents updated Linkage Fee report - Chamber opposes fee
 
Tuesday, the L.A. City Planning and Land Use Management Department (PLUM) presented an updated report on the proposed linkage fee on new residential and commercial development to fund affordable housing. The Chamber strongly believes that this fee on new development will make housing more expensive for everyone. We appreciate the amendments introduced by Councilmembers Blumenfield and Englander, and will continue to express our concerns. READ OUR COALITION LETTER.
 
Welcome Congressman Jimmy Gomez!

This week, the Chamber held a welcome reception honoring newly sworn-in Congressman Jimmy Gomez. Congressman Gomez is the representative of California's 34th Congressional district, and his District office is in the Chamber building. We welcome Rep. Chamber talks freight and trade priorities with Congressman Alan Lowenthal 
 
As the Congressional recess wraps up, the Chamber met with Congressman Alan Lowenthal, whose district includes the Port of Long Beach. Discussions centered around goods movement transportation, freight priorities and the importance of trade.
 
Chamber weighs in on proposed Art Fee with L.A. County Arts Commission

The Chamber's Land Use, Construction & Housing Council met Wednesday to discuss L.A. County's proposed Art Fee. The proposal would place a fee on private development within the County that will be used for arts programming. The L.A. County Arts Commission attended the council meeting to discuss the proposed fee and its potential affect on business' and development.

Chamber welcomes representatives of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC)
 
Twelve senior business executives and members of the IACC discussed their commercial and industrial interests in buying, selling and investing with California firms. The main industries represented were aerospace and defense. Established in 1968, IACC is the only bilateral Chamber in India promoting Indo-U.S. economic engagement. India is the L.A. region's seventh largest trading partner with a total bilateral trade of over $11 billion 2016. SEE THE PHOTOS.
