Chamber advocates for saving enterprise zones from Gov. Brown's proposed budget
The Chamber advocated on Tuesday for saving enterprise zones from elimination in Gov. Jerry Brown's proposed budget. Located in economically depressed areas, enterprise zones provide incentives for businesses to open and/or relocate to these areas, hire employees and help revitalize the local economy. The Chamber joined more than 10 business organizations and major California employers from San Diego to Fresno in meetings in Sacramento with legislators and Gov. Brown's administration, including the office of Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett and Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, Michael Cohen. Legislators maintained that everything was on the table for cuts, but were receptive to the concerns and legality questions posed by the business community.Contact Jessica Duboff, 213.580.7558.
