Chamber & Comcast NBCUniversal host Veteran Hiring Luncheon

Yesterday, in connection with L.A. Fleet Week, the Chamber and Comcast NBCUniversal hosted a Veteran Hiring Luncheon for business leaders and HR professionals. The luncheon, which explored best practices and benefits of hiring members of the military community, featured a panel discussion with Carol Eggert, Senior Vice President, Military and Veteran Affairs, NBCUniversal, and Brigadier General (R), U.S. Army; and Nora W. Tyson, Vice Admiral, Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet. The discussion was moderated by Chamber Board Chair Steve Nissen. SEE PHOTO GALLERY.

 
Chamber voices support for CA WaterFix at City Hall
 
On Tuesday, the L.A. City Council's Committee on Energy, Climate Change and Environmental Justice heard a number of items related to the CA WaterFix. The Chamber was there to voice support for the project and emphasize the need to secure our future water reliability and security.

Be the voice of business at L.A. City Hall!
 
On Sept. 27, join the Chamber and more than 100 business and community leaders for ACCESS L.A. City Hall. The Chamber's annual advocacy trip to City Hall features a networking breakfast and a City Council meeting on issues vital to L.A.'s businesses. ACCESS L.A. LABJ 500 Most Influential in L.A. List features more than 100 Chamber members
 
Of the 500 people included on the Los Angeles Business Journal's (LABJ) 2017 Most Influential People in L.A., 138 individuals are representatives of 112 Chamber Member firms. Included were 30 current Chamber Board members, seven former and future Board Chairs, current Chair of the Board Steve Nissen with NBCUniversal, and President & CEO Gary Toebben. Congratulations to each individual honored and thank you for your support of the L.A. Chamber hosts Prime Minister of Estonia
 
Estonia Prime Minister Jüri Ratas and a delegation of 20 business executives and government officials visited the Chamber on Thursday to receive a briefing on the economic importance of the L.A. region and to discuss bilateral trade opportunities. The delegation was accompanied by Honorary Consul Jaak Treiman and newly appointed Estonian Ambassador to the U.S., Amb. Lauri Lepik. Prime Minister Ratas shared information about Estonia's e-Business Register, an advanced and secure online tool that allows non-Estonian citizens to register and establish a company in Estonia within minutes and without a physical presence in Estonia. Chamber members receive briefing from Governor Brown's Deputy Director of Trade
 
Last Friday, Awinash Bawle, newly appointed deputy director for International Affairs and Business Development for the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), presented an update on the State's international strategies. "For the last three years, California has had the lowest unemployment rate in the nation. The secret to our success is that we literally and figuratively have kept our borders open to trade. The Chamber has been instrumental in the development of many of our international programs and initiatives," said Bawle.
