Chamber-supported project receives L.A. City Council vote to move forward
On Tuesday, the Chamber urged the L.A. City Council to sustain a decision by the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Commission to continue moving forward with the Main Channel Deepening Project. The Council voted unanimously to approve the Commission's action, but asked that the Harbor Commission return to Council with a proposal for alternate locations for a shipyard proposed by Gambol Industries at the Port. The Chamber testified that "if the Port and Gambol can locate another site that works for both of them, and the tenants of the ports, that would be a win-win situation." Chamber meets with L.A. City Chief Administrative Officer on the City budget
The City is doing what it can to stay away from bankruptcy, said Miguel Santana, Chief Administrative Officer, at the Chamber's newly formed Government & Civic Relations Council meeting Thursday at the Chamber.
