LOS ANGELES – The L.A. JOBS Political Action Committee (PAC), sponsored by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, announced its endorsement today of Assemblymember Gil Cedillo for Los Angeles City Council District 1.
The district covers Glassell Park, Cypress Park, Highland Park, Mt. Washington, Solano Canyon, Elysian Park, Echo Park, Westlake, Angelino Heights, Temple Beaudry, Lafayette Park, Chinatown, Forgotten Edge, Lincoln Heights, Montecito Heights, Pico Union, Adams-Normandie, Mid Cities and Mac Arthur Park and is open due to term limits.
“Gil will be an independent voice for the taxpayers of Los Angeles, basing his decisions on what is best for the City as a whole and not based on the demands of special interests,” said L.A. Area Chamber President & CEO Gary Toebben. “Gil’s wealth of experience solving the problems of real people, and deftly navigating the halls of government will be critical to fixing the City’s fiscal house and improving how government supports the creation of jobs and provides critical public services.”
Currently a State Assemblymember, Cedillo represents the 45th Assembly District. Prior to his election in 2010, Gil represented the 22nd District in the California State Senate.
“Gil has a history of standing up for what is right … That kind of integrity and dedication is needed in City Hall,” Toebben said. “The PAC looks forward to working with him to ensure victory in 2013.”
“There is no more important endorsement for my campaign than the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce endorsement,” Cedillo said. “The Chamber advocates for policies that will grow our economy, create good government, and are based on fact not ideology. I look forward to working together with the Chamber to make those policies a reality.”
