ACCESS L.A. CITY HALL 2007

More than 200 business leaders convened for the L.A. Area Chamber's annual Access L.A. City Hall event Sept. 20, 2007 to spread the message that L.A. must cultivate a more business friendly environment. Participants heard from L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Controller Laura Chick and L.A. City Council President Eric Garcetti who talked about the new Jobs, Business Growth and Tax Reform committee.
Access L.A. City Hall participants attended breakout sessions on key issues, including gang violence, education and youth development; renovating LAX; improving L.A.'s business climate and gridlock and public transportation. View the 2007 event's

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
The Access L.A. City Hall trip included the following success:
- Members suggested to city officials a one-stop Web portal to assist local businesses. In May, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa launched the new portal: www.business.lacity.org, which centralizes content currently placed on more than 20 separate city Web sites, creating easy access to information in areas such as permitting, incentives, greening your business, job training centers and tax information. The Web site is the latest step in Mayor Villaraigosa's effort to make Los Angeles a more business-friendly city.
