Lumina Foundation is the nation's largest private foundation committed solely to enrolling and graduating more students from college. Under Merisotis' leadership, Lumina's goal is to ensure that by 2025 60 percent of Americans hold degrees. Oakley is best known for implementing innovative strategies and policies that help students succeed in college. He helped offset costs associated with his college-based reforms by leveraging private funding granted by local business leaders, philanthropists and foundations.
